Transportation/Outdoor Activities

By Car
Driving is on the left side, British style. Highways are good (specially if compared with those in other islands). However, driving at nights through narrow roads, with precarious light, can be difficult.

Outside urban zones, maximum speed allowed is 80 km/h. Rush hours are from 7:30 to 8:30 and from 16:30 to 17:30 hours.

To drive in Barbados you must have a local driving license, which you can obtain at the airport, car rental agencies, and most of the police delegations. You must present your driving license, and pay 10 BDS$.

Car rental agencies offer a wide range of vehicles, including minimokes (like a beach buggy). They can send the car to your hotel, freely, and provide you with a map of the highways- Almost all agencies accept most known credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and American Express).
