The Island Sun and The BVI Beacon are two weekly newspapers. The Limin’ Times is a weekly publication containing news about show business and cultural events. The best information for visitors is in Welcome: The British Virgin Islands Tourist Guide, a booklet, published every two months, you can find at the tourist offices and at the hotels, and in the following internet address:

Post services
The main post office in Tortola is in Main Street (follow the street from Waterfront Drive next to the ferry station). There are branches at Fat Virgin and some towns.

Phone, Fax and Internet
The British Virgin Islands area code is 284. You can make long distance calls from most of the public phones accepting phone cards. Most of hotels have fax and internet service.

Medical Assistance
Peebles Hospital, at Porter Road, Road Town, is the best-equipped hospital. B&F Medical Complex (open daily from 7:00; phone 494 2196) and Medicure Ltd. have clinic and X ray laboratories. There are also private clinics in Tortola and Fat Virgin. The rest of the islands have doctors and nurses.

Shopping
At Main Street, Road Town, are many shops; including some duty free .One of the most prestigious is Pusser’s Company Store, with branches at Soper’s Hole Wharf, west of the island, and at Liverick Bay in Fat Virgin. At Wickhams Key I is Crafts Alive Market, where you can buy all kinds of local handicraft.

BVI Apparel clothes and gifts at very low prices in Soper’s Hole, Baugher’s Bay and Road Town. Dive BVI Ltd. is a shop dedicated to submarine material, while Pat’s Pottery & Art offers ceramics and products of the islands.
