Water Sports
St. Thomas
Sapphire, Magen’s, Morninstar and most of the beaches, have places where boards for windsurf are rented, and also offer training.
The beaches of Sapphire, Hull and Coki are fine for scuba diving. Those wanting to sail should remember that most of the ships leave at 9:30 and return at 16:00 hours. Price is around U$D 90. There are available boats in most of the sporting ports, and also at your hotel. A couple of interesting ships are the Nightwind, that goes from Sapphire Beach Marina (phone 775 4110), and the Winifred, a classic wooden sailboat, leaving from Red Hook (phone 775 7890). A recommended experience is to travel on board of the Spirit catamaran (phone 775 9500). Those wanting to sail on these waters on motor boats, must go to American Yacht Harbor, at Red Hook, where is Nauti Nymph, a company where you can rent one of this boats, either alone or with a captain (phone 775 5066). If you want to explore the depths of the sea, without diving, you can make a tour on board of submarine Atlantis, Building VI, Havensight Mall (phone 776 5650).
St. John
There’s a scuba diving itinerary in front of Trunk Bay. The Cinnamon Bay and Salt Pond Bay beaches are also to good places for this sport. Cinnamon and Maho have places to rent boards for windsurf.
The Atlantis submarine leaves from Cruz Bay once a week. The Adventurer catamaran makes, each day, a tour from Cruz Bay to the idyllic island of Jost Van Dyke (phone no. 771 6950). St. Croix
Scuba diving fans have a great itinerary at Buck Island National Monument. There are companies like Llewellyn Charter (phone no. 773 9027) that organize half-day tours, and provide all the necessary equipment. For other water sports go to St. Croix Water Sport (phone no. 773 7060).
Horse Riding Tours At St. John, if you want to rent a horse or a donkey, for the whole or half day, at sunset or under a full moon, please contact with: Carolina Corral, Coral Bay (phone no. 693 5778).

Golf St. Thomas has a golf field with wonderful sights: Mahogany Run (phone no. 775 5000). St Croix has to 18 hole’s fields: Carambola (phone no. 778 5638) and Buccaneer (phone no. 773 2100).
Trekking The National Park of the US Virgin Islands is two thirds of St. John’s territory. At Cruz Bay is the park’s tourist information center that will provide all the information needed (open daily from 8:00 to 16:00 hours, phone no. 776 6201).
Reef Bay Trail (phone no. 776 6330) is a magnificent path that goes down the hillside of a mountain.
Submarines These islands are one of the best places in the Caribbean to go on e submarines. Here you’ll find many centers, and most of the hotels including this practice among their water sports.
At St. Thomas, Cold Beach is one of the most popular beaches among fans: besides there are many schools for beginners training. An organized immersion costs at least $25 and for $40 you can enjoy a fascinating night immersion from the beach (phone no. 775 4220). At Secret Harbor Beach Resort (a beautiful harbor), is Aqua Action, a company dedicated to organize immersions for small groups (phone no. 775 6285). At Red Hook is Chris Sawyer Diving Center, a very popular submarine center, that each Friday does tours to the Rhone, a wrecked ship. The price, including all the necessary equipment, two immersions and meal, is $110 (phone no. 777 7804).
At St. John, located cat Wharfside Village, Cruz Bay, is Low Key Watersports, the only five stars water sports center of the island, with professional instructors with PADI certificate. They have training in submarines and immersions, starting with beginners, as well as piraguismo (sailing on pirogues), a very popular sport in St. John (phone no. 693 8999).
