WHERE TO EAT

What to eat
Restaurants in St. Martin are a reflection of the many cultures mixed in the island. Both sides of the border, you can find traditional French and Caribbean food, influencing each other; that’s why you can find typical French dishes with no traditional ingredients, like those including tropical fruit. On the Dutch zone, restaurants have some typical Dutch dishes, like peas soup or sausages. Some restaurants offer Indonesian food like the rijsttafel, an unforgettable gastronomic experience, consisting of rice accompanied with other twenty different dishes, each one better than the other. Indonesian food arrived to St. Martin with the Dutch colonialists, who in the past had Indonesia as one of their most important colonies.

The French zone is renown for the many restaurants around Grand- Casse.
